How to Soft Mod a Wii to Play Backups

Many game manufacturers are concerned that the ability to play games off backup discs will cause a run on pirated games. Unfortunately the discs scratch so easily that kids particularly have a hard time taking care of their games so they can continue to play them. It is important that these kids be able to play backup discs so the originals can stay scratch free, and purchasing replacements does not become a problem.

Instructions

Things You'll Need

  •  Nintendo Wii
  •  Homebrew Channel
  •  Computer with a DVD-R burner
  •  DVD-Rs
  •  A computer software program that burns ISO files

1
Install the Homebrew channel on your Wii. This allows you to set up the mod and the easily access the channel.

2
Turn on your Wii and open the Homebrew channel. Select the Safe "Update 3.3u" and run it, if you have not already. It updates your system without undoing the mods you have already done.

3
Find the clOS Installer in Homebrew. Run it. Choose the WAD manager from the list. It installs the Backup Loader Channel.

4
Burn one of your games to a DVD-R disk as an ISO file. Pop it into the Wii on the Backup Loader Channel and play!
