How to Jailbreak a PS3 Slim 3.55


At the time of publication, the PlayStation 3 "slim" models are shipped with version 3.55 of the PlayStation operating system. Jailbreaking your PS3 requires that you have a new or formatted USB storage device and Jailbreak PS3 3.73. While jailbreaking is not illegal, the process will void your PlayStation warranty and limit your access to the PlayStation Network.

Things You'll Need

  •  USB storage device
  •  Jailbreak PS3 3.73

Insert your USB storage device into your computer. Click "Start" and select the "Computer" option to launch a new window. Right-click the USB storage device and select the "Format" option.

Download the Jailbreak PS3 3.73 file launcher onto your computer and double-click the launcher to extract the Jailbreak PS 3.73 files to your computer.

Move the Jailbreak PS3 3.73 files from your computer to the USB drive.

Remove any discs from your PlayStation 3 and disconnect any USB devices connected to the console.

Unplug the PS3 from the power supply and insert your USB drive into the USB port nearest the Blu-ray disc player.

Plug the PS3 console into the power supply and press the "Power" button, then press the "Eject" button.

Press "OK" when asked to perform a system update to complete the jailreaking process.


Tips & Warnings

Jailbreaking can be erratic and is not guaranteed to work with each PS3 console. The jailbreak process can permanently damage your PS3 console.
