How to Put Music on a PS3

When you add music files to your PlayStation 3, you'll be able to listen to your favorite artists while you play video games or browse the Internet with your system. Remember that your music files are big, and they'll eat away at your hard-drive space if you add too many. A PlayStation 3 with larger hard drive will be able to handle more music files than a PS3 with a smaller hard drive.

Instructions

Things You'll Need

  •  USB removable media device

 1
Plug your USB removable media device into a USB slot on your computer. There are usually between two and six USB slots on a computer, depending on the type of PC. USB ports can be on the front or back panels of the PC.

2
Go to "My Computer" on your PC and click on your USB drive to open the device. Locate your music folder and copy and paste your files from the folder to the USB drive. Eject the USB drive and remove it from the PC.

3
Plug the USB media device into your PS3. There are between two and four USB slots at the front of the system.

4
Select the "Music" tab from the PS3's XrossMediaBar (XMB). Highlight the "USB Device" icon and press "X" on your controller. A screen will display the music you have on your USB device.

5
Highlight the tracks or albums you want to move to your PS3. Press the "triangle" button on your controller to bring up a menu. Select "Copy" and then press "X" to copy your files to the PS3.

Tips & Warnings

You can also transfer video files by using these steps.

Do not turn off the PS3 or remove the USB device while your files are copying. This can damage your PS3.
