How to Fix Heat Problems on a Samsung A737

The Samsung SGH-A737 features multimedia messaging, expansive storage for contacts, Bluetooth capability, USB storage, a speakerphone, 3G speed and instant messaging options. However, despite its many features, the A737 mobile phone is not without problems. Samsung A737 cell phones can overheat, usually because of strain on the battery. Fortunately, there are methods available to fix heat problems on a Samsung A737.

Instructions

Things You'll Need

  •  Licensed Samsung battery
  •  Cotton swab
  •  Isopropyl alcohol

1
Use only an official Samsung battery. In most cases, overheating is caused by excessive battery drain. If your battery is overly strained, it could melt. CNet reports that batteries from authorized manufacturers include features designed for meltdown protection. Vents and temperature-activated shutdown mechanisms keep your battery heat from reaching a critical level. However, third-party battery providers do not always include these safety measures to control heat levels.

2
Turn off your phone and slide the battery cover off. On a Samsung A737, the battery cover slides downward when pressure is applied.

3
Inspect the battery to see if there are any visible cracks in the battery's casing. Officially licensed Samsung batteries can still overheat if you accidentally dropped your phone and cracked the casing.

4
Use a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol to remove dust from the battery's three connector pins. You will find all three connector pins on the top right-hand side of the battery. Over time, small dust particles can slip underneath the battery cover, causing power issues and potential overheating.

5
Reinsert the battery and turn on your Samsung A737 cell phone.

6
Press the "Menu" key.

7
Use the arrow keys to highlight "Settings," and press the "Select" key on your keypad. The Select key is not labeled; it is simply indicated by the AT&T logo.

8
Highlight "Set Display" with the arrow keys, and press the "Select" key again.

9
Highlight "Light Settings," then press the "Select" key. According to the Samsung SGH-A737 user manual, the Light Settings can drastically affect battery drain. To reduce heat, you want to alleviate unnecessary battery usage.

10
Select the "Brightness" option and reduce your screen's brightness to the lowest level.

11
Select "Backlight Time" and use the arrow keys to reduce the time to 10 seconds. This means your screen will go dark after 10 seconds if you're not actively using the phone. By reducing overall brightness and backlight duration, you will reduce potential overheating.

12
Press the "Select" key to confirm the changes to your Samsung A737 cell phone.
