How to Set Up a Bluetooth Headset With the PS3

The PlayStation 3 entertainment console supports most Bluetooth headsets in games and applications with incoming and outgoing audio capability. Like all wireless PS3 peripherals, you must pair and set up a Bluetooth headset with the PS3 before you can use that headset with the console. Only one Bluetooth headset can be paired with the PS3 at a time.

Instructions

1
Enable pair mode on the Bluetooth headset. All Bluetooth headsets have a pair button on the side or under the device for this purpose.

2
Scroll to the "Settings" menu on the PS3's XMB menu. Select "Accessory Settings." Select "Manage Bluetooth Devices." When asked if you want to register a new device, select "Yes." Press the "X" button to begin scanning for Bluetooth headsets. After a few seconds, the PS3 will pair with your Bluetooth headset and display the name of the headset on-screen

3
Press the "X" button and use the on-screen keyboard to enter the pass key for your Bluetooth headset (refer to the headset's documentation for the specific pass key to use). The pass key ensures no unauthorized devices connect to the headset. Select "OK" and press the "X" button. The PS3 will notify you of a successful pairing. Press the "X" button to return to the XMB.

4
Return to the "Settings" menu and select "Accessory Settings." Select "Audio Device Settings."

5
Select "Input Device." Set the Bluetooth headset as the microphone. The headset will automatically be assigned to receive incoming voice audio, as well as automatically allow voice output.
